Writing and Editing

Since 1988, my writing and editing work has covered a broad range of subject matter and genres including technical writing and editing for social sciences, scientific research, wilderness recreation, travel writing, creative writing, essays, creative non-fiction, poetry, news reporting, advertising copywriting. Grantwriting has been a large part of my activities for several years, as welI.

I have researched and written on many subjects for newspaper and magazine articles, such as community development, environmental issues and community quality of life issues, land use and public land use and recreation, timber economies and tourism.

I can provide you and your project such services as simple as copyediting and proofreading and as complex and abstract as organizing your argument for the greatest impact. I can help you identify your audience and prepare a profile. This could include demographic research, analysis of spending patterns, for example. Oh, and don't forget the staples: news releases, news briefs, ad copy, etc.

Since about 2004, I have worked with several non-native English speakers in producing scientific research results and findings for publication in peer-review journals. Most are chemists and atmospheric scientists from China, Japan, India, Thailand, as well as the United States. If you are a researcher, or a graduate or post-doctoral student writing a thesis or dissertation I can help you imporve your English writing, thus makign your papers more marketable and more effective in contributing to you field of study.

Email me about your project, describe to me your challenge and we can go from there.

Most recently, i have been involved in writing about taijiquan, or tai chi, as it is widely known. Since I have practiced Chinese internal martial arts for about 10 years, it is a natural move to write about.

If you are also writing about martial arts, email me to help you develop a stronger product. As your editor I know I can.

To contact me, send an email with the following text in the subject line: Communication Development Services. Please don't send attachments. Briefly describe your needs and tell me how to get in touch with you. Of course you can always contact me at your convenience.
