I started out laying pages at my college paper as Managing Editor, then I moved into designing and producing brochures, flyers, pamphlets for educators and field researchers. I probably have never really been a writer without also being a designer of pages, books and booklets, information products of some sort or other. I even designed a label for a micro-brewed beer.
I eventually became the Editor-in-Chief of a bi-monthly journal of environment and community living. The demanding work and tight schedules taught me how to work under considerable strain. It was like an aerobic class that only quit at the end of the day when you turn out the lights and go to bed.
Naturally, print layout and design evolved into webpage design, which is a whole other challenge. But ever since I had my first computer in 1988, a Macintosh --one of those with a 9-inch screen--I have been deisgning. The greatest constraint everyone has with design whether for print or web, is availability of technology and simply keeping up with technology. I aim to keep things simple and if you approach your projects similarly, then I should be able to help you. Just email or call and we can talk about your project and what you are looking.
